Assignment #6- Conflict
The tale I wish to tell you holds a very scandalous conflict. When arriving to Hephaestus' workshop in a need for weapons he found a large attraction towards me which was partly prompted by Poseidon's tricking. He was also mourning the loss of his wife, Aphrodite, who had recently been unfaithful to him with another god. Hephaestus was told that I also carried feelings for him. Driven by the false information giving by Poseidon, along with his personal thoughts and feelings, Hephaestus threw himself towards me. As the virgin goddess I demanded to stay pure, but Hephaestus was overcome with desire and continued to approach me. I stuck to my values and continued to deny his love and pushed him away. This incident was sudden and uncalled-for because Hephaestus and I had been fairly close companions. I had always gone to him when I was in need of metal work and he had never hinted to having an attraction to me. In the action of throwing Hephaestus off of me, his bodily fluids spilled on my leg. Grabbing a piece of wool, I wiped the fluid from my thigh and threw it to the ground. This created a half serpent child, who I named Erichthonius.

ReplyDeleteI never expected this from you, sister. Even though I was an unfaithful wife, I did possess some feelings for Hephaestus. It hurts, knowing that you would spend any sort of time with him. I am proud of you for standing your ground, it is more than I could have done. But, I do not feel the same trust in you as I did before. I am also extremely disappointed in Hephaestus.
ReplyDeleteI was not to blame for the occurrence my sister. I do not understand your disappointment towards me. Your 'feelings' for Hephaestus were obviously minute due to the affair that you chose to have. I would prefer that you not be hypocritical after reviewing the choices that you have made.
